Walter, our trusty driver While in Congo in 2004, we were transported in a Land Rover on loan from the charity, Caritas. Walter was our driver and served us wonderfully. To be a driver in the third world, it is not enough to be skilled at handling the vehicle. It is also necessary to be a skilful mechanic - there are no call out rescue services. Refugee families waiting to be housed Until recently, thousands of refugee families were in emergency accommodation in derelict old buildings, each family having a space about 6 feet square in which to live.	Homes for refugee families Because of the desperate troubles in the north and east of Congo (about 4 million people have been killed over the last few years) a massive number of refugee families have fled to the safer south. Lubumbashi had an influx of about 20,000 refugees but, in just a couple of years, it has housed nearly all of them.
